Golden Valley looking towards The Malvern Hills
… with a new beginning … a little less incognito … but very much Poppytump of old :-)
Creativity took a tumble and much time has been spent over the last few months evaluating personal goals and wondering how I can improve my photography / processing skills with a little fun and experimentation along the way .
It’s been a bit easy to get thrown off course by slow progress and a few set backs with one thing and another, however I’m aiming to keep exploring everything as much as time , motivation , and personal satisfaction will allow . At the moment I’m not even quite sure how this blog will evolve but perhaps I shan’t worry about that just now … or even at all ;)
The Malvern Hills where we live are just as beautiful and inspiring , dear friends who’ve newly moved to the area – one of the most delightful unexpected happenings recently – have said much the same and it’s given us a new incentive to explore a little more of our patch of glorious English countryside …
Talking of which …
The image above is one of many I’ve recently taken using ICM , otherwise known as Intentional Camera Movement . I know we’ve all made these type of shots when least wanted , but I’m quite excited by this technique of combining filters, different shutter speeds and apertures with haphazard circular jiggles or side way sweeping movements ! Opening up the RAW images on my desktop and viewing them enlarged enables me to see the potential for some art … well , I hope it’s that and not a case of The Emperors New Clothes :-D
Some landscape scenes I’ve taken seem very painterly but recognisable , others are much more abstract.
Without any constraining rules or boundaries it means that whether by taking a high key ethereal approach or developing a moody atmosphere , processing such images has unleashed the kind creativity that feels very liberating :)
I’d like to develop my style and skills in this way so I do hope you’ll enjoy more of these alternative landscapes and seascapes here in the future … seagulls , flags and follies await in my rapidly expanding ICM folder to work through .
Over the last few months there’s been very little action on the sketching and painting front, but I’m feeling a bit more inspired of late to pick up those brushes and practise on my hoarded pristine watercolour paper with what maybe I should refer to as IPM * Intentional Paint Movement :)
In the meantime here’s one I never got round to posting ….
SO … for those of you who knew / know me as Poppy .. Poppytump.. PT .. I’d really love to keep that x but if not … Louise it is :)
Thanks for visiting !
